We began the afternoon strolling through the cobbled alleys, surrounded by ochre-colored facades and the architectural details that define Chieri’s historic center. From the very first shots, Shary and Claudio appeared natural and connected, sharing spontaneous smiles and glances full of tenderness. In this pre-wedding session in Chieri, I aimed to capture their authenticity, avoiding rigid poses and letting their feelings come through freely. As the day progressed, we began to play with light, utilizing not only natural light but also artificial. When the sun dipped lower and the shadows lengthened, I used an off-camera flash placed both in front of and behind the couple. This allowed me to create stunning effects: by lighting Shary and Claudio from the front, I highlighted their faces and the details of their outfits. By placing the flash behind them, I achieved magical silhouettes, with the couple standing out against the evocative backdrop of the historic center. These silhouettes, with softly illuminated outlines, added a poetic touch to the shots, making them almost painterly.

The photoshoot didn’t stay grounded: with the help of a drone, we explored Chieri from above, capturing the couple and the entire urban landscape in a single image. Aerial shots offer a completely different perspective, highlighting Chieri’s architectural beauty with its medieval layout, ancient rooftops, and elegant squares. Shary and Claudio, captured from above, seem even more a part of this historic setting, as if their love could truly embrace the entire city. At the end of our journey, we moved in front of the ancient prisons and the majestic Chieri Cathedral, a Romanesque-Gothic building that, with its grandeur, represents a symbol of the city. As evening fell, the city lights turned on, creating an enchanting atmosphere. I used the off-camera flash once more, carefully positioning it to achieve a dramatic lighting effect that highlighted both the architectural details and the couple’s elegance. Here, the flash placed behind Shary and Claudio created a breathtaking silhouette, with the glow of vintage street lamps and the moon. This contrast between shadow and light brought to life powerful and evocative images, capable of telling not only their love story but also the timeless beauty of Chieri.
